What could be better than date night by the sea? Here at Kingston Resorts, we’re fortunate to have five restaurants and bars on our property, each ideal for grabbing a bite to eat with your special someone. But what are these restaurants? And what should you order? To get the inspiration flowing, we’ve done the work for you! Here are our favorite food and drink pairings at each Kingston Resorts establishment.

Black Drum: Coastal Haze + Fried Chicken Sandwich

When you sit down to a meal at Black Drum, Kingston Resorts’ newest restaurant, you’ll find yourself with plenty of great options for local food and drinks. With 40 taps to choose from, the menu can seem a little intimidating at first, but we think our signature beer, Coastal Haze, is always a good choice.

Brewed in collaboration with Legal Remedy Brewing Co., Coastal Haze’s fruity and earthy flavor profile is due to its unique blend of El Dorado and Simcoe hops. We recommend pairing this drink with the Fried Chicken Sandwich.

Why? The bitterness of the hops will cut right through the fried taste of the chicken while enhancing the sandwich’s spicy Comeback sauce. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!

Café Amalfi: Old Fashioned + Beef Tournedos

Tables and ocean view of Cafe Amalfi located at the Hilton

With its bright and airy atmosphere, cobalt blue accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Café Amalfi draws direct inspiration from its iconic Italian namesake. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic date night, and with a full menu of antipasti, soups and salads, and entrées, you’ll be satisfied no matter what you order.

Next time you visit Café Amalfi, try pairing the beef tournedos with a good old fashioned Old Fashioned.

It’s no secret that whiskey and beef play well with one another, and you’ll especially appreciate the way the bitters in the Old Fashioned balance the filet’s smoky taste. Add to that the rich, earthy flavors of the potato leek puree and truffle demi, and this pairing will have your tastebuds jumping for joy.

Coastal Grill & Bar: Blackberry Punch + Grilled Mahi

Coastal Grill restaurant overlooking the ocean

Coastal Grill & Bar offers picturesque ocean views and some of the best seafood on the property. For that reason, we recommend the Grilled Mahi paired with the resort’s signature Blackberry Punch cocktail.

Seafood always goes well with light, citrusy drinks, and with its base of lemon juice, orange juice, and grenadine, Blackberry Punch is about as citrusy as you can get. Try it yourself, and note how the drink perfectly complements the Grilled Mahi’s jalapeno lime aioli.

If Blackberry Punch isn’t on the menu, you can pair this dish with any citrusy vodka cocktail.

Veranda Bar: Chardonnay + BBQ Chicken Pizza

Veranda Bar at Hilton Myrtle Beach. 2nd floor bar overlooking the ocean

Did you know that Chardonnay goes well with barbecue? There’s a fact you can use to start a heated conversation with your sommelier friend!

When you visit Veranda Bar, located on the mezzanine level of the Hilton Myrtle Beach Hotel, try ordering a chilled glass of Chardonnay with the BBQ Chicken Pizza.

As you’re unwinding from your day at the beach or pool—or gearing up for a thrilling night on the town—take a moment to savor the way the fruity notes in the Chardonnay compliment the flavors in the barbecue sauce. Appreciate how the butteriness of the wine plays well with the moist, juicy chicken. And, of course, the temperature difference between a cold glass of wine and a hot slice of pizza makes this pairing all the more a full-sensory experience.

There are four different types of Chardonnay on the menu—which one will you order?

Wet Whistle: Aperol Spritz + Caesar Salad

Wet Whistle outside bar at Hilton

Wet Whistle is a classic Kingston Resorts haunt, and for that reason, we’re recommending a classic pairing; an ode to summer itself: an Aperol Spritz and a Caesar Salad.

This fresh drink and crisp salad combo was designed to be enjoyed by the pool on a hot summer day. It’s perfect as a light lunch or pre-dinner appetizer—if you want to elevate it to the next level, throw in a side of fries and some garlic parmesan chicken tenders. Then, raise your glass to a perfect meal and an even more perfect summer vacation!

While we’ve outlined the best pairings at each restaurant, the best pairing of all is any good meal shared with someone you love. Explore our vacation packages and book your romantic getaway to Kingston Resorts today!
